Greece to expand vaccination certificate of 7 months to all age groups

Greece’s Health Minister Thanos Plevris, said on Wednesday that expiration of the vaccination certificate of seven months will expand to all ages over 18 years old. He also forecast that daily infections on Wednesday will be around 50,000.

Speaking to Skai TV, Plevris said that it has been already decided that “the seven-month certificate will apply to all ages, so that if someone has not received the booster shot in the seven-month period, he or she will be considered as unvaccinated.”

Currently the measure affects only those over 60 who are fully vaccinated but do not have the booster shot.

Announcements to this effect will be made in the coming days, he added.

The Minister said also that the number of coronavirus cases on Wednesday are forecast to be more or less the same as on Tuesday, around 50,000.

Plevris gave assurances that no patient with the ‘Omicron’ variant has so far been intubated in Greece since it was first detected in the country on December 20.

He added that “in this context, the increase in cases in itself should not be a deterrent to the opening of schools.”

  1. My first reaction of the year, so Happy New Year and all the best for 2022 for you, KTG, and for all the readers of this great and very informative website.
If I understand correctly, foreigners will be allowed to the country if they have a certificate that is max. 9 months old (this is the rule in the whole EU from February 1, I believe). But to go to a restaurant (or a hotel?), you’ll need a certificate that is max. 7 months old. So suppose that I got my 2nd dose 8 months ago, I can come to Greece, but cannot go to pubs/restaurants/hotels? Why are they making this so complicated? I have the feeling that this rule will be softened in April/May, when tourists start to arrive in Greece, right?

    • 1) they want you in GR yo have your booster shot. 2) you can sit at a resturant outside, no problem to stay in hotel 3) once tourism starts regulations will change
      Happy NY to you too
