PM Mitsotakis: Support “measures measured in the measure of reality”

Following the current trend of “sloppy chic” of Zelensky and Macron, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced on Wednesday afternoon a package of support measures worth 1.1 billion euros to relief low-incomers, farmers and small businesses heavily affected by the soaring energy prices.

The measures will benefit 3,200,000 low-income household but also middle-class incomers of up to 30,000 euros annual income.

The stingy Greek PM who would rather spend not even a cent to the welfare of the society went poetic and spoke of support “measures measured in the measure of reality.”

He said that the measures will address all manifestations of price increases. They will support the income of lower-income workers and pensioners with an emergency subsidy, families with children and a generous subsidy of the energy bills.”

He added that they will partially absorb increases in fuel prices, by covering 180 liters of fuel for vehicles.

“There will also be special provisions for farmers and small businesses, who have been particularly hit by increased energy prices,” he announced as well.

In fact he did not reveal much about the measures other than that there will be support measures.

However, he said that the ministers of Finance, Agriculture and Energy will announce details of the 3-month support package at 8:30 Thursday morning.

While media report of a electricity subsidy of 52 euros and 250 to 300 aid for low-incomers, Greeks on social media speak of “alms” that will help only a bit to cope with the soaring energy prices and the hikes in essential goods.

It is the first time the PM addressed the nation in house clothes and unshaven from his home, sitting on a chair. He has has been isolated since Monday when he was tested positive to Covid-19.

It’s the new look, boys & girls, in the kindergarten of world politics…

Many Greeks comment on Mitsotakis’ copy pasted look and hashtag #Μακρόν is trending, of course.

Some journalist noted bitter: “PM’s communicators copied Macron’s look. What is missing is the aura of Elysee, the “headquarters” of contacts with foreign leaders and the communication talent …”
