Serial “Rapist with Tattoo”of Palaio Faliro, S. Athens, fled to Albania

The 45-year-old Albanian national identified by Greek police as the “rapist with the tattoo” of Palaio Faliro, in South Athens, has fled to his home-country.

The 45-year-old man from Albania has been identified via CCTV footage and DNA sample as the perpetrator of the rape of a 34-year-old woman and an attempted rape of a 24-year-old woman in the night of October 23-24, 2022.

In the night October 23, he forced himself into the car of a 24-year-old  woman ordered her to drive in a remote area threatening to kill her. The terrified woman, however, drove to a fast food chain that was still opened. She stopped the car, opened the windows and started shouting “Help!”. The rapist left the car from the back door and fled.

Three hours later, and while he had reportedly changed clothes, he lurked for another victim at a tram stop in the area. the woman was going to work, when she was attacked and dragged to the dark park nearby, where he raped her.

His DNA was found on her hands as well as in the car of the first victim and was compared to DNA in his home.

Both victims turned to police.

Hiding in Albania

Authorities have launched a manhunt to locate the rapist of Palaio Faliro, who allegedly crossed the borders on a bus early  morning, October 27, in order avoid being arrested by the Greek police.

An international arrest warrant is expected to be issued against him within Monday, most probably within the next few hours.

The perpetrator allegedly crossed the Greek-Albanian border from the Kakavia border check point in the early hours of October 27, before being identified by the Greek authorities. He is being hiding by a friend or a relative, media reported.

Representative of the Ministry of Public Order of Albania, Genci Moulai, told Greek news agency amna, immediately after receiving a signal from the Greek police, the Albanian police launched a manhunt and are conducting checks to locate and arrest the accused, however, without specific results, so far.

His Profile

At the same time, police officers of the Athens Security Directorate have fully outlined the profile of the 45-year-old both from the testimonies of his two victims and from the security cameras of the area where he operated on the night in question.

Police is waiting for a prosecutor’s order to publish his pictures and personal data, out of interest to identify more of his victims.

According to a police statement, the rapist speaks Greek well, is of medium height, with short hair and has a distinctive tattoo on his right arm.

The divorcee father of two, is a violent person who did not hesitate to target even his own mother, while he allegedly abused another woman in the past.

He had managed to lure a young woman into the house where he lived with his mother, abused her and seriously injured her. The victim had managed to escape  by calling for help. His mother seems to confirm the incident.

At the same time, the authorities are looking for other victims of the 45-year-old rapist of Palaio Faliro.

For this reason, within the next few days, with a prosecutor’s order, it is possible that his photos and his identity information will be made public.

Mother: “for me he is dead”

In a state of shock, his mother, who has given a statement to the Police describing the abuse she received, speaking to ERT said about her son:

“I say I’ll get the police, he’s pulling me like this, he’s doing me here like this… I don’t want him. To me he is dead. I can not. I feel he is dead. I don’t want him, for me I don’t want him. I am 70 years old. He drinks tsipouro, drinks beers, police came here, found a hashish cigarette. I don’t want such a child.”

The mother added that he was taking her pension money but refused to talk about the abuse she suffered by him.
