Ferries, ships docked in Greece due to sailor’s 48h strike

Ships and ferries will be docked at the ports of Greece as sailors’ unions have announced a 48-hour nationwide strike on February 8 and 9, 2023.

“A 48-hour nationwide strike has been decided in all categories of ships, on February 8 and 9, as well as the initiation of procedures to amend the federation’s statutes”, the relevant announcement stated.

The strike was voted by the three seafarers’ unions, the Panhellenic Union of Merchant Marine Engineers, the Panhellenic Union of Junior Crews Machanis E.N. “O Stephenson” and the Panhellenic Professional Union of Chefs E.N..

According to the unions, “the 48-hour strike is a continuation of the strike mobilizations on October 25 and November 9, which were signaled by the massive – decisive participation of the sailors, the workers, sending a hopeful message of resistance and disobedience to the anti-popular policy.”
