The big military parade of Armed and Security forces to celebrate the Greek Independence Day on March 25 started at 11 a.m. in front of the Monument of the Unknown Soldier at Syntagma in the center of Athens.
25. March 2023 marks 202 years after Greeks revolted against the Ottomans in 1821 to end the 400-year occupation.
The parade takes place in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou and thousands of excited citizens and visitors.

Traffic restrictions for private and public transport means are being imposed in Athens with many roads closed until the parade is over.
