Barack Obama and family enjoy sea food delicacies on Sifnos (pcts)

Bread baked in a wood-fired oven, fava bean crepe, dusky grouper carpaccio, marinated mullet from the open sea, grilled rockfish and trahanas with local lobster are some of the delicacies former US President Barack Obama, his wife Michelle, their two daughters and the couple Tom Hanks-Rita Wilson enjoyed on the island of Sifnos on Sunday night.

To reach the award-winning restaurant, the group climbed the stairs of the picturesque medieval settlement of Castro located on a rocky area on the island accompanied by over 30 bodyguards.

They sat down at a table a bit apart from the other guests and enjoyed their fish and sea food dinner that was Hank’ proposal whose a friend with the restaurant chef.

The Obamas have been hosted by Hank-Wilson on their summer villa in the neighboring island of Antiparos in the central Aegean Sea.

They all sailed half an hour to Sifnos with a private boat.

Before dinner, the Obamas walked through the picturesque narrow streets of the Cycladic island and said “Hello, how are you?” to people who managed to take a rare picture of him.

There was also a short visit to a local winery, media reported.

Obama and his family arrived at the airport of Paros on Friday and traveled with ferry boat to the small island of Antiparos [KTG pictures and what to do there here).

An “army” of security guards and agents secured that the family of former US president would not be disturbed by photographers and camera crews.

The relaxed days in the central Aegean were of short duration as Barack Obama is invited to attend the Nostos Leadership Conference in Athens.

It is the second time Barack Obama visits Greece since 2016.
