23 professional firefighters and three volunteers have been injured in the several wildfires that have been burning in Greece since last Sunday.
3 firefighters are hospitalized with burn injuries, while 20 remain in hospital with respiratory problems.

One firefighter collapsed on Wednesday during the battle against the flames near Megara in western Attica. His colleagues, policemen and vollunteers rushed to him, while a local brought a pillow. He was transferred to a hospital in Athens with an ambulance.
According to Mega TV reporter who was at the spot at the time of the incident, “there was strong wind, a suffocating atmosphere from the smoke and the firefighters did not wear masks!”

The three volunteer firefighters suffered injuries in the eyes while they were fighting against the flames in eastern Attica on Monday, the Civil Protection on Saronikos Municipality reportedly announced.
The Fire Service published a video of firefighter’s tough struggle in the last days with the slogan “we continue…”

While firefighters continue…, fires keep raging or reviving across the country and the Civil Protection keeps sending messages via <112> ordering citizens to evacuate, for “mysterious reason” live coverage of fires disappeared from state and private TV channels.

Only yesterday, Wednesday, there were over 63 forest- and wild-fires active.
