Earthquake rattles with 4.6R Symi and Rhodes

An earthquake rattled with 4.6 on the Richter scale the island of Symi in the south-east Aegean Sea on Monday evening.

Some seismological institutes reported the magnitude as 4.3 R and some with 4.9 R.

The tremor occurred at 18:46 local time and its epicenter was in the sea area 35 km north-east of Symi, 43 km NE of Rhodes and 20km SW of Marmaris on the Turkish west coast.

Its focal depth was 39.8 km.

The earthquake was strongly felt also on the island of Rhodes, local media reported.

There have been no reports of injuries or material damage.
