New cases of Covid-19 increased in the week of September 11-17, 2023 compared to the previous week, according to the weekly report by the National Public Health Organisation (EODY), published on Thursday.
Most of the new infections were caused by the ‘Eris’ coronavirus strain, while 5 cases were confirmed to have been caused by the ‘Pirola’ strain, EDOY noted.
Hospital admissions for Covid-19 (733) increased last week and also went up 14% overall compared to the average weekly for admissions during the last four weeks.
Meanwhile, the number of new intubations (8) in the week of September 11-17 decreased compared to the previous week and also in comparison to the average of new intubations in the last four weeks (13).
At present, 25 people are intubated with Covid-19 in Greek hospitals.
39 Covid-patients have died. The median age of those who died was 83 (age range: 60-98).
