US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is expected to visit Greece and meet with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his summer house on the island of Crete, media reported.
According to information, Anthony Blinken is scheduled to travel to Souda for a few hours.
The US Secretary of State is launching a new tour of allied countries in the Middle East and will reportedly visit Greece after Turkey on the same day.
Turkey has been under “suffocating pressure” from the US to stop the delay and approve Sweden’s NATO membership. This issue has now been directly linked to the sale of American F-16 fighters to Ankara.
According to a report of state broadcaster ERT on Wednesday, the USA “played the card” of the sale of the fifth generation F-35 stealth fighter jets to Greece, if its approval is further delayed of Sweden’s accession to NATO by the Turkish parliament.
Anthony Blinken had visited Greece on February 20, 2023 and had met with Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Nikos Dendias and Alexis Tsipras.
