The Ministry of Tourism is preparing a platform with an interactive digital map for culinary tourism in Greece. The platform will contribute to the diversification of the touristic offer, but also to the interconnection of destinations, the ministry said.
The interactive platform project was announced by tourism minister Olga Kefalogianni in the meeting with the president, George Cavvathas, and the general secretary, Yiannis Daveronis, of the Panhellenic Federation of Restaurants and Related Professions on Monday.
On its part, the Federation POESE stated that some of the issues discussed on the agenda were the updating of the Greek Cuisine Mark for the certification of Greek restaurants and the general upgrading of culinary tourism through the Development and Resilience Fund.
Special emphasis was also given on the promotion of Greece as the ultimate culinary destination for the domestic market but especially for visitors from abroad, as well as the industry’s wider cooperation with local Greek wineries.
Mrs. Kefalogianni stated that the Ministry of Tourism is working to increase the awareness of agri-tourism and culinary destinations and activities, which will significantly contribute to the diversification of the tourist offer, but also to the interconnection of destinations.
The president of POESE pointed out to the minister that every proposal, which promotes Greek gastronomy and Greek tourism in general, “finds us completely in agreement and available to contribute in every possible way.”
PS similar attempts to promote online the Greek cuisine for locals and visitors from abroad were made also a couple of years after the economic crisis broke out after 2010. the platforms were set up and then abandoned…
Maybe this time a government takes the issue seriously.
