Labor Minister Domna Michailidou has called pensioners to return to work and used her mother as an example that those over 70 are fit to work.
“My 72-year-old mother, she is full of energy and she would like a job,” the minister told Skai TV on Saturday.
A recent legislation allows pensioners to continue work with decreased taxation and no cuts in their pension, however, with additional social and health contributions.
Minister Michailidou stated that pensioners who fell they can work, having energy and strength like her mother, who is 72 years old. would do well to work.
She didn’t reveal what was her mother’s work – if any – before retirement and if the 72-year-old lady is seriously looking for a job or if it was just a firework to call Greeks to work until 80 or something.
Opposition media reported the news with titles such as “Labor Minister seeking a job for her mother.”
On social media, some users offered the 72-year-old lady a job as “delivery girl” provided she has her own motorbike.
What is interesing is that politicians normally use their children as tools to appeal to public. Michailidou has done a first to instrumentalize her parents.
These idiots are so detached from reality it beggars belief,
A person who has layed bricks or worked construction for 45 years ,deserves to retire with a decent pension, which provides for him or her into retirement, they are not pottering around the house bringing up over entitled idiots, no wonder she is full of energy,I bet her back is also in really good condition.
It’s politicians like Domna who guarantee the future will not be worth participating in unless you have a lot of money.
I think my memory must be failing me? I can’t remember the debate and subsequent vote on the change to the constitution that said that the job of government is no longer to serve the public but to control all aspects of their life.
