Ferries docked, public transport paralyzed due to 24h strike in Greece

Public and train transport and maritime traffic in Greece will paralyze on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, after several unions declared to join the 24-hour strike organized by the  Confederation of  Private Sector Workers (GSEE).

The strike is expected to impact public transport services on land and the sea across the country.

Metro lines 1, 2 and 3 as well as the Tram will be out of service for 24 hours.
OASA public buses in Athens will operate only from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Public buses operated by private companies, KTEL, will not be affected by the strike.

Trains and the suburban Proastiakos, operated by the Hellenic Trains, will operate with emergency staff and cancel or change several route schedules (details here in Greek)

Ferries and ships will remain docked for 24 hours as the Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation will participate in the strike.

The confederation GSEE demands more staff hiring, collective labor agreements and safe public transport.
