Greek police has arrested a 29-year-old man, a notorious Turkish criminal involved in manslaughter, homicide migrants smuggling, arms and drugs trafficking.
He was arrested in downtown Athens on Friday, May 10, on an international warrant and in cooperation between Greek and Turkish intelligence services EYP and MIT, with the latter to have given a tip-off to the Greek colleagues.
The man, leader of a criminal organization active in Adana, South-East Turkey, had found refuge in Athens, state broadcaster ERT reported.
Citing police sources, ERT noted that investigation began to unfold last February when a luxury residence where two Turks lived in Chania was raided. One of the two Turks was a member of the gang of the 29-year-old man.

The gang was named “Baygaral” after the founder’s name, the brother of arrested Ramazan Baygar, state-run Anadolu news agency reported. The founder was killed two years ago.
A total of 14 pending national arrest warrants had been issued against the man, and in the end it was an Interpol Red Alert Warrant issued by Turkey that facilitated his arrest by Greeks.
He was handcuffed in Ampelokipoi district of Athens.
The young criminal was taken to Korydallos prison in Athens and is expected to be extradited to Turkey in the next few days.
