An explosion occurred in a factory in Kato Kifisia suburb of northern Athens early Wednesday afternoon. Authorities warn residents to stay inside due to a possible toxic cloud.
The explosion occurred in a factory manufacturing frying pans and cooking pots.
The Fire Service rushed to the area with 42 firefighters and 14 engines.
It is currently unclear whether factory workers are trapped in the building.
The Civil Protection sent sms to residents via the alert line <112>.
“The smoke is heading to your ares. Stay indoors, close doors and windows. Follow the instructions of the authorities,” the message said.
