The captain of the yacht was was chartered by Kazakh nationals and had caused the fire in the pine forest fire on the island of Hydra on June 23 has reportedly taken full responsibility for the incident.
In a supplementary testimony last week, he admitted that the fireworks belonged to him, Mega TV reported.
The captain reportedly testified that he had a box with 15 fireworks which he fired while the yacht was in the sea, however, one of them fell on one of the island’s slopes, starting the fire.
He also stated that he acted on his own initiative to surprise the passengers, and he received no assistance by other crew members.
The captain’s testimony is expected to influence the charges for the 13 crew members who are being prosecuted for the blaze.on Hydra’s only pine forest as well as arson charges against eight Kazakh nationals including a powerful oligarch.
What a set up if ever I saw one, scape goat has nothing on this one ! The real culprits get off Scott free !

Possibly not totally “Scott free” but I guess the Kazakh nationals can probably afford whatever the monetary cost was?
