Greek police arrested two teenager boys, aged 15 and 16, for staring a fire in low vegetation area in the area of Terpsithea in Ano Glyfada, south-eastern Athens, on Monday afternoon.
The high school students had fired fireworks “for fun” as they confessed to police.
However, the fun for the youngsters would easily turn into a nightmare for the residents due to the strong winds blowing in the area. Within minutes the fire spread on the low vegetation hill.

Two water-dropping helicopters operating against the big wildfire in north-east Athens were deployed and managed to extinguish the blaze within 20 minutes, media reported.
Residents and patrolling volunteers had seen the two teenager boys and immediately informed the police.
Their identification was easy as they were known to locals and police arrested them late on Monday. Arrested were also the boys’ parents.
The four were initially taken to police station and then were handed over to Fire Service investigators.
Each of the boys was fined with 4,600 euros for “arson with intent”, however, the judicial adventures both for them and their parents are not over.
Parents would face charges of ‘minors’ negligence.”
