Radical Vegans claim responsibility for arson in eggs factory

A radical Vegan organization claimed responsibility for the fire in an egg production facility in Thessaloniki, northern Greece. “If you rebuild it, we will burn it down again,” the radical vegans posted on a website of the anti-authoritarian scene.

A fire in the eggs factory of the “Tsakiris Family” in Neochorouda on the evening of August 22nd in Neochorouda, destroyed most of the facilities, however, the animals were saved, a company representative said.

The radical vegans “Animals Liberation Front” (MAZ) claimed responsibility for the arson stating that the action was a protest against the torture of animals.

“Thousands of animals die every day in miserable conditions for the taste of their flesh, offering incalculable profits to the bosses,” the MAZ said among others and threatened “We are going forward with fire until the last Auschwitz of animals is closed.”

In a postscript to their announcement, the MAZ wrote “There is a lot of garbage that in one way or another contributes to the extermination of animals. By far the worst of these are the meat-eating environmentalists.”

According to newspaper documento.gr, in a statement issued a few hours after the fire, the CEO of the company, Pavlos Tsakiris, announced that the fire completely destroyed the facilities that housed the administration offices, the standardization of eggs, as well as the logistics infrastructure adding that no animals were harmed as the egg producing chicken are in other, different facilities.

What is worth noting is that the Greenpeace Greece alleged in a post that “thousands of hens had a torturous end”, as they were burned alive in their cages.

The company denied the allegations of the organization stressing that it “reserves every legal right that may arise from the applicable legal framework”.

Tsakiris Family’s marketing manager, Dimitris Zakalkas, informed Greenpeace’s followers on Linkedin that the company’s central facilities, which indeed suffered total destruction, have nothing to do with the company’s 19 poultry farms located in different locations.

He added that the fact that there were no chickens in the facilities that were burned is proven by the television footage of a Pan-Hellenic channel that broadcast the fire live, and he assured that the livestock is a daily care and a huge contractual and personal responsibility of the businessmen to live with the best possible bird welfare conditions.

Today, Thursday, August 29, Mega TV LiveNewsMagazine reported citing Fire Service sources that ” the fire was most likely caused through a short circuit and there was no sign or evidence of arson.”

  1. ‘What the heck happened’
A bunch of protein lacking idiots found some matches and fuel and didn’t hurt themselves. Hopefully they will next time.

  2. Going vegan deprives the body of essential nutrients that are only provided by meat and that can’t be replaced by other sources or supplements. This under-nutrition has consequences for the body and more specifically for the brain.
