The Political Secretariat of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance discussed the process for electing the new party leader on Tuesday, after Stefanos Kasselakis was ousted with a vote on Sunday.
The Secretariat proposed that the first round of internal elections be held on November 24, with a potential second round on December 1 if necessary.
In addition, SYRIZA extraordinary congress is scheduled for November 1-4, where presidential candidates will be announced and the election process will be ratified. The election of delegates will occur prior to this event.
Candidates have to have collected signatures of at least 30 members of the Central Committee to be eligible
Three days after he was deprived from his role as leader of the party, Stefanos Kasselakis has not announced yet whether he will candidate again or he will form his own political party. Or if he even abandon his political ambitions, pack his things and book one way tickets for 2 adults and 1 dog.
Media reported that he has a public opinion poll running and then he will decide according to the results.
Whatever, he decides is irrelevant, in my opinion, irrelevant and nobody cares except some party MPs and part of the grassroots.
Main thing is that Greece’s main opposition party has no leader.
“Main thing is that Greece’s main opposition party has no leader.”
and the ruling party is a dictatorship.
Please explain your comment that states “the ruling party is a dictatorship” because I do not see reconstitution of the EAT-ESA, the removal of justices in the Greek court system, the removal of the president of the republic, the removal of term limits on parliamentarians, or the banning of main political opposition parties like SYRIZA.
One could understand that you do not like the legislation that is passed in Parliament or the policies of Mitsotakis and his cabinet, but you can still work to vote them out and another party into the majoirty. Your hyperbolic statement is, given this information, utterly misinformed.
