Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued an emergency bulletin warning of a bad weather front forecast to hit a large part of the country on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
According to EMY weather warning the bad weather front will hit with heavy rainfalls and storms will affect the regions of
- Thessaly, Pieria, Sporades, northern Evia and Fthiotida.
The phenomena will be accompanied by a high frequency of lightning, local hail-falls and strong winds.
The phenomena are forecast to weaken as of the afternoon.
The passage of the weather disturbance from Attica will be short, affecting mainly the West and South of the prefecture.

On the bright side, the bad weather front is of brief duration and according to EMY director, Thodoris Kolydas, perspectives for the following days are not bad.

✅ Sea temperatures will remain high in the coming days at 26 to 27 degrees Celsius and this is good news for those who continue swimming.
✅ The rains will be heavy mainly in the west and the north and negligible in most of the eastern and southern island country (with the exception of the Sporades).
✅On the weekend, north winds will strengthen to 6 to 7 Beaufort and the air temperature will be almost the same as the sea temperature.
