Two people died and 22 have been rescued when a migrant boat sank North-East off the island of Samos in the eastern Aegean Sea in the early morning hours of Monday.
The bodies of a man and a woman were recovered from the sea by a vessel of the Greek Coast Guard, while 16 men, 2 women and 4 minors were rescued and brought to the island’s port capital Vathy.
Survivors said that another two people were missing.
Search and rescue operation for the missing persons is continuing with the participation of two coastguard boats, a private vessel and a Greek military helicopter.
