Greece’s political leadership has conveyed condolences and messages of solidarity and support to the people of Spain who have been tested by deadly floods in the last few hours and where at least 70 people have died, while dozens remain missing.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his support with a post on social media. “Our hearts are with the people of Spain,” he wrote among others.

At the same time, the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou sent a letter to the King of Spain, Felipe VI.
The President expressed on behalf of the Greek people and personally her sincere condolences to the victims of the catastrophic floods that hit eastern Spain.
She also emphasized that Greece stands in solidarity with the Spanish people and wished for the healing of the wounds caused by the calamity.

Heavy rainfalls struck the province of Valencia in eastern Spain on Tuesday triggering floods and havoc.
At least 70 people are reported to have died and dozens are still missing on Wednesday afternoon, as the bad weather conditions continue. among the dead are many children.

Dozens of people were forced to seek on the roofs of stores or gas stations or trapped in their vehicles on impassable roads and many are still awaiting assistance.
