A three-year-old boy has been shot in the head while in a car with his parents on Friday morning. The bullets came from a gun in a car driving by, initial reports claimed. The toddler did not survive.
According to preliminary police information, the incident took place in Markopoulos village in eastern Attica short after 10 o’ clock.
The driver of an SUV stopped next to the vehicle where the boy was and opened fire.
According to the same sources, the shooting was preceded by an incident for unknown reasons, between the occupants of two cars moving on Agios Dimitriou street, in Markopoulos. Reason for the incident is unknown.
In one car were the father, the mother and their three-year-old child, when they were suddenly attacked by the passengers of the other car who approached them and started shooting, resulting in the fatal injury of the child.
20 shell casings were found at the scene of the shooting.
The father immediately transferred the wounded toddler to the Markopoulos Health Center, but due to the seriousness of his condition, it was deemed necessary to transfer him to a children’s hospital. Every doctor’ effort was, however, in vain.
Greek Police has launched an investigation.
According to news websites such as newsit.gr, the incident took place outside a Roma settlement when the car was driving by and there and reason was a vendetta between two families.
According to protothema.gr, from the evidence collected so far, it appears that the perpetrators had ambushed the child’s family and when they saw their car passing by, they approached, raised their weapons and started shooting incessantly, resulting in the child’s fatal injury.
However, only one bullet penetrated the glass and it was the one that fatally injured the child.
A very young child lost his life, just because a criminal adult had differences with other.
So sad, so unfair. At least the police have to find who did this, arrest them so the society feels a little more safe, having these monsters in jail.
