Prisoners at the rural prison of Agia by Chania on the island of Crete took a heartwarming initiative and made a wooden wheelchair for a paralyzed young lamb.
The young lamb was born with both hind legs paralyzed.
The inmates who take care of the livestock facility in the prison took pity with the young life and had the idea to help the animal and give it the opportunity to live in better conditions, as it will be able to move more easily with the help of the wooden equipment.
The cooperation of prisoners in the pen with those in the workshop created this mini-cart made for the lamb that had difficulty with walking, the Rural Prison of Agia staid in a statement posted on Facebook.
“When there is a will to live, everyone has a right to life! The comment and the photos were sent by the colleague in charge of the livestock facilities!,” the statement cheered.
Since Wednesday, when the Prison uploaded the post, the news has been making the rounds on the internet and thousands of users are rewarding the prisoners for their solidarity and animal-friendly action.
That’s certainly a sweet story and bravo to all involved.
As a (sad) reality check though, who will be taking care of this youngster as he grows up – I ask from the perspective of hand raising a male goat rejected by his mother – at around 4 months old young billy’s give out pheromones to attract the girls – whether this chap could perform or not is irrelevant, male kids are separated (and most usually slaughtered) from their mothers.
Perhaps this is a Myxomatosis inspired “feel good story” because he’s so deeply despised by so many 🙂
