Another tragedy in the Aegean Sea, again off the island of Samos: a speedboat carrying migrants crashed on a rocky beach leaving behind four dead, with the victims being again women and children.
16 persons have been rescued, while the total number of people onboard is not known. State broadcaster ERT reported that there may have been 20 to 22 people onboard.
According to the Coast Guard, a search and rescue operation in the sea and on land is underway in the area of the accident northeast of Samos.
At the time of the incident in the early morning hours of Thursday the weather conditions were fair.
On Monday, the bodies of six children and two women were recovered from the sea when a boat carrying migrants sank off the same area in Galazio cape on Samos.
