In a heinous act unknown perpetrators pulled the trigger and executed three deer on the island of Rhodes. One of the beautiful animals had its antlers cut off.
Rhodes is home of the famous Dama Dama deer that are also the symbol of the island in the south-eastern Aegean Sea.

Officials from the Forest Service speak of more deer shot dead other than the three executed ones.
Investigation has been launched to identify the perpetrators of the heinous act.

The dead animals were found by the Game Guard on an inspection in Plymmiri area of southern Rhodes on February 7.

The incident has caused the anger and indignation of the local society, as it is not the first time that deer has been targeted by subhumans who do not hesitate to shoot them in cold blood, local media noted.

The Forest Service and other competent authorities have already launched investigations in order to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators of this heinous act and bring them to justice.
Speaking to state broadcaster ERT, the Director of the Forest Service, Kaiti Balatsouka, said that the deer found dead from shooting are more, without however mentioning the exact number. “There is activity in this area,” she said characteristically.
She also noted that the weapon was a single-shot, which takes a larger cartridge size, for killing large animals.
The Federal Game Guard filed a lawsuit against unknown persons.
While two years ago, the then mayor wanted to proceed to mass killings of deer to reduce their number as especially farmers complained, in January 2024 there were plans to establish a park to protect them.
It is not known whether the three executed deer were in protected area.
