A search-and-rescue operation in the mountains of Chania continues also on Tuesday to locate a 21-year-old German tourist who has been missing since last Thursday, February 13, 2025.
He was last reported near the location Xyloskalo, Omalos near the entrance of Samaria Gorge, which is closed at this time of year.
Authorities were alerted to his disappearance on Saturday evening by the owner of a car hire company, from which the young tourist had hired a car.
The search began at first light on Sunday, with the participation of three fire brigade vehicles and six fire fighters, EMAK forces and two drones.
The rented car has been reportedly located in Xyloskalo near the entrance of Samaria Gorge, but there has been no sign of him, so far.
Assistance is also being provided by the police while the coast guard has also been alerted.
The search operation is focusing of some parts of Omalos mountains, the Samaria gorge as well as in Palaiohora.
On Monday, a missing alert was issued for Johann Wolfgang Williams with blue eyes and long brown hair and a height of 1.80 m.
It is not known what he was wearing when he went missing.
