Meteorologists in Greece are warning of an upcoming “thermal dome” with temperatures up to 39 degrees Celsius and prolonged heat.
It is the first heatwave of the year that increases also the risk of wildfires.
Temperature will start rising on Monday, June 2, is forecast to reach its peak towards the end of the week and extend until the middle of the following week.
Meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafylias stressed in a post that most affected regions will be areas in thessaly, central Macedonia, Fthiotida, Viotia, Aitoloakarnania and Peloponnese.
According to meteorologist Thodoris Kolydas the wave of prolonged heat will start on Wednesday, June 4, and last until Monday, June 9 in most areas. The warmest days are forecast to be Thursday to Sunday, June 5 to 8 , 2025.

The highest temperatures will be recorded – as usual- in the interior of the mainland, while in coastal and island areas the maximum temperature will be 3-4 degrees Celsius lower.
