A cool breathe after a week-long heatwave as of today, Monday, and an even better weather improvement as of tomorrow, Tuesday, when temperature in Greece will start decreasing to seasonal levels. Greeks and tourists will start feeling a kind of summer normality and get rid of the feeling they will in a hot baking oven.

Meteorologists forecast an average temperature at 36 degrees Celsius for the week and expect that the atmosphere to start cooling down first in the Ionian islands and the western mainland.

Still on Sunday, July 27, though, the heatwave was alive and kicking and temperature reached 40-42 degrees Celsius in several parts of Central and south mainland, with the maximum at 6:10 p.m. 42.4° C in Thiva (Viotia), 42.3° C in Fthiotida, 42.3° C in the city of Karditsa and 41.8° C in Kranidi, NE Peloponnese.
