A deadly traffic accident occurred on Monday morning on the Egnatia Highway in northern Greece, between Komotini and Xanthi, near the Iasmos tolls.
Shortly after 11 a.m., a truck collided with two cars under unclear circumstances, igniting a fire.
Three passengers in one of the cars were tragically charred to death, while a fourth was seriously injured and taken to Xanthi Hospital. The passengers were returning to Epirus after attending a wedding over the weekend in the area of Xanthi, state ERT TV reported.
The truck driver also sustained serious injuries and was transported to the same hospital. The second car involved carried four passengers, none of whom appear to have suffered serious injuries.

The fire spread rapidly to nearby farmland, prompting authorities to close the Egnatia Highway in the direction from Komotini to Xanthi to allow emergency teams to manage the scene.
