Three social media groups were exposing traffic police roadblocks to their over 200,000 members. Two arrests.
The groups administrators were informing about traffic police checks and other police operations on the streets of Athens and Thessaloniki through posts.
The groups operated 24 hours a day informing members about the exact locations and times of police checks.
Police arrested two men, a 29-year-old and a 55-year-old, who were operating these groups.
A case was filed against the two men, who were arrested by men from The Police’s Cyber-crime Prosecution Directorate filed a case against the two, for incitement to commit crimes and for dangerous road traffic violations.
The operation of the three groups on social media was suspended.
The 29-year-old had the role of super administrator (Super Admin) and the 55-year-old had the role of administrator (Admin) in a community that had over 173,000 members, while the former managed two more groups as super administrator, with approximately 28,000 members, informing about areas of Crete and Thessaloniki.
These specific groups were an important source of information mainly for would-be violators of the Highway Code but also for other violators, creating serious obstruction and undermining of the work of the Greek Police in the crucial field of road safety and the prevention of traffic accidents, as well as in the fight against crime in general.
In home raids, police found and seized four mobile phones on which telephone connections for activating management accounts were operating and which will be sent to the Criminal Investigations Directorate for laboratory tests.
The arrested persons are being taken to the competent prosecution authority.

pretty much everyone I know was a member of the group. I guess they will have to drink less when they go out. Joking aside I’ve never seen a country as strict as GR with drink driving. Their checkpoints block the whole road almost every weekend now, even if you are sober going home now takes 40 mins instead of 20!
I dont understand these groups. there are apps where you can report online police controls, like camsam or even google maps has an possibility to do this. this is safe and if enough use it very handy. well, in the rest of europe but not in greece?
