Storms and Sahara Dust to strike Greece over the weekend

Storms and an invasion of Sahara dust in two waves are forecast for Greece over the weekend. At the same time, a new temperature drop, gale-force winds and rainfalls will hit our country in the coming days.

The largest transfer of Sahara dust is expected on on Saturday and Monday, October 18 and 20, 2025 respectively.

Mostly affected by the ‘suffocating clouds od the dust will be mainlt the South and the West.

At the same time, the weather will continue to be rainy, with new storms and a greater drop in temperature

In a post by Costas Lagouvardos, the director of the National Observatory of Athens, warns that the Sahara dust will “suffocate” Greece on Saturday (18.10.2025) while a stronger transfer is expected on Monday (20.10.2025).

The map he published also shows the areas that will be affected. In general, the entire country from Thessaly down will experience two 24-hour days filled with African dust once again.

As for the weather in the coming days, it is expected to be rainy again as storms will occur.

The temperature will drop slightly while winds will blow locally up to 6 Beaufort.

  1. My apologies to everyone. I’m afraid this is entirely my fault. My balcony was washed down yesterday and that action is guaranteed to bring Sahara sand.
