An 85-year-old Belgian national who skippered a yacht went missing as of Tuesday afternoon.
The man appears to have been the only passenger on the yacht, which had sailed from Mykonos to the island of Aigina.
According to the Coast Guard, his relatives notifying authorities when they lost contact with him.
The Coast Guard set out with patrol boats and private means to search for him in the sea off the island of Kythnos in the Cyclades island group.
The sailboat was found adrift without any passengers. I
t contained the man’s personal items and his cellphone. With the help of another vessel, and accompanied by a patrol boat, it was towed to Mericha port on Kythnos.
