Taxi drivers in Athens & Attica to hold 48h strike on Feb 3-4

The Board of Directors of SATA, the taxi drivers’ union in Athens and Attica, on Friday announced a decision to hold a 48-hour strike on upcoming Tuesday and Wednesday, February 3-4, 2026.

The decision was taken by majority vote at a meeting of the union’s board on Thursday.

Such strikes normally start at 6 a.m. on the first strike day and end exactly 48 hours later; in this case, end of strike will be at 6 a.m. on Thursday, February 5.

“ On Tuesday, February 3, the strikers will gather at the SATA offices (17 Marni Street, Athens) at 10:30 a.m., and this will be followed by a march to the Maximos Mansion, as a sign of protest against the government’s hostile stance toward our sector,” the announcement said, according to state-run news agency amna.gr

Taxi drivers in Athens and Attica have been holding several 48-hour strikes since summer 2025 with a long list of requests that the government is not willing to meet.
