Dana Eden, 52, the Israeli producer and creator of TV series “Tehran” was found dead in her hotel room in Athens late on Sunday.
Eden was in Greece since beginning of the month for the filming of the fourth season of the series.
According to the police investigation so far, her death is attributed to suicide, as pills were allegedly found in her hotel room. At the same time, reports are being examined that the body bore signs of bruising on the extremities and in the neck area.
Eden was found dead by her brother, who was looking for her as she was not responding to his messages, media reported.
The mobilization of the Greek authorities was immediate, with the Greek Police arriving at the scene shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Sunday night. An hour later, a forensic pathologist arrived at the scene to conduct the necessary autopsy. Shortly before 23:00, her body was removed from the hotel in a funeral home vehicle.
Dana Eden had serious psychological problems
According to Greek news website ieidiseis.gr, earlier on Monday some Israeli publications reported that Greek media spoke of a police investigation into the possibility that Dana Eden was murdered by Iranian agents, due to the intense criticism that the series “Tehran” has received from Iranian state media since its first broadcast.
However, Channel 12 journalist Yonatan Rieger categorically denied the information, characterizing it as “fake news”, emphasizing that there is no mention of an investigation into murder or any indication of Iranian involvement.
Latest information from high-ranking Greek Police officers report that Dana Eden had been facing serious psychological problems recently due to personal issues, and had also sought help.
She had taken her own life with the belt of her bathrobe, ieidiseis.gr reported.
