Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued one more weather warning as another barometric low is forecast with heavy rainfalls, thunderstorms, gale-force winds and possibly hail.
Temporary heavy rains and storms will occur in the afternoon hours today, Monday, February 16, in the Lesvos – Chios region.
EMY warns that the weather will deteriorate again on Tuesday, February 17, with locally heavy rains, storms, gale-force winds and possible hail.
EMY Weather Warning
1. Heavy rains and storms are expected on Tuesday
a. in Epirus and western Sterea until the afternoon
b. in western and southern Peloponnese from the pre-lunar hours until the afternoon
c. in Crete (mainly in the western and southern parts) during the midday and afternoon hours.
d. in the Cyclades (mainly the southernmost islands) temporarily in the afternoon
e. in the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese from early afternoon until evening.
2. Very strong to gale-force winds will blow
a. in the Ionian Sea and the coasts of the western mainland (Epirus, western Sterea and western Peloponnese) on Tuesday until noon westerly southwesterly 7 to 8 Beaufort and from the afternoon – evening until the early hours of Wednesday, February 18, northwesterly 9 to 10 Beaufort
b. in Crete, the Cyclades and the southeastern Peloponnese on Tuesday from the morning hours southwesterly 7 to 8 Beaufort and from the evening until the morning hours of Wednesday 18-02-2026 westerly 9 Beaufort.
