Ferries, ships to remain docked at Greek ports due to 24h strike

Ferries and ships will remain docked at Greek ports on February 28, 2016 due to a 24-hour strike to honor the memory of the 57 victims killed in the train tragedy in Tempi in 2023.

The Executive Committee of the Panhellenic Seamen’s Feation (PNO) on Wednesday announced its decision to hold a 24-hour nationwide strike for all categories of ships on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 00:01 until 24:00 at midnight.

The strike action was decided in order to mark the third anniversary since the tragic railway accident at Tempi, where 57 passengers died – an event that shocked the country and highlighted in the harshest possible way the importance of safety in transportation.
