Greece’s National Μετεοrological Service EMY issued a warning of a temporary weather deterioration with heavy rainflls, storms and possibly from the early hours of Friday, February 20, until the afternoon of Saturday, February 21, 2026.
The bad weather front is forecast to initially affect the north-western part of the country, move gradually in the remaining areas of western Greece, the northeastern mainland and the eastern Aegean Sea.
Strong, southerly winds, will be blowing with intensity of 7 and locally 8 Beaufort on Friday temporarily in the Ionian Sea and gradually in the central and northern Aegean.


The meteo service of the National Observatory of Athens also warns of transport of Sahara dust and mud rains in southerns Greece and Athens, Attica as well.

Locally heavy rains and storms are forecast:
On Friday, February 20
a. in the northern part of the Ionian Sea (area of Corfu, Diapontian Islands, Paxos) and Epirus from the early hours until early noon
b. in the rest of the Ionian Sea and western Central Greece from the morning hours until the afternoon
c. in the western and southern Peloponnese from the pre-lunar hours until late afternoon
d. in eastern Macedonia and Thrace from the afternoon hours
e. in the rest of the Peloponnese, eastern Central Greece (including Attica) and Evia temporarily from early evening until late night
f. in the islands of the northeastern Aegean from early evening.
On Saturday, February 21
a. in eastern Macedonia, Thrace and the islands of the northeastern Aegean until the afternoon
b. in the islands of the eastern Aegean until noon
c. in the Dodecanese from morning until noon.
