C.P. Cavafy, the most distinguished Greek poet of the 20th century “returns to Athens” Mayor Haris Doukas posted on X announcing the installation of a sculptural bench with the sitting poet in prominent Dionysiou Areopagitou street.
The sculpture, donated by the Onassis Foundation, was delivered on the anniversary of the birth and death of the poet who was born in Alexandria, Egypt, to Greek parents on April 29, 1863 and died on April 29, 1933.

Cavafy returns to Athens.
In collaboration with the Onassis Foundation, Dionysiou Areopagitou acquires a new landmark: the sculptural bench of C. P. Cavafy, which is delivered on the anniversary of the birth and death of the Alexandrian poet.
With design and inspiration, the emblematic point of the city acquires a new identity, highlighting the public space as a place of culture and everyday life.

Konstantinos Petrou Kavafis, known, especially in English, as Constantine P. Cavafy and often published as C. P. Cavafy, was a Greek poet, journalist, and civil servant from Alexandria. A major figure of modern Greek literature, he is sometimes considered the most distinguished Greek poet of the 20th century.
