I admit I didn’t know that. In fact I hadn’t even realized it as I personally haven’t took advantage of a post office services for years – even in the years I was living abroad. But I took notice of this otherwise not known issue by reading a local newspaper. According to the news published, the national Greek Postal Services Helenic Post, currently with a network of 845 branches across the country, plans to close 15% of them. That is one in seven, or 126 branches in total. A post office serves in the average several thousands citizens.
What if municipality leaders protest this action? Soon you will have to take advantage of the courier services to send your post, packages or whatever. It is called boosting the private sector in times of austerity – even if it will cost you a bit more. If you have no money, you can deliver the post yourself.
No, I am not going to write about the loss of jobs and the new unemployed. It’s a sunny Saturday, we don’t want real unpleasant news, do we?
