Greek Consumer Price Index Increase By 3.3% In June

As if Greeks don’t pay enough on extra taxes and other contributions to save the Greek economy and pay the interest rates to the country’s lenders, Greek Statistics Authority confirms that what everybody here knows: That prices of consumer goods and services purchased by households have increased; parallel to a decrease of wages and pensions. And this is the official statistics. Down on the streets things looks worse…
“The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June 2011 compared with June 2010, increased by 3.3%. In June 2010, the annual rate of change of the CPI was 5.2%, said the Hellenic Statistical Authority in a report.
The CPI in June 2011 compared with May 2011 decreased by 0.2%. In June 2010, the monthly rate of change of the CPI was -0.3%.
In the twelve-month period from July 2010 to June 2011 compared with the period from July 2009 to June 2010 the annual average rate of change of the CPI was 4.7%. The corresponding annual average rate of change of the CPI in the previous year (July 2009 to June 2010), was 2.7%. (source: Capital.gr)
