It is a Fat Thursday custom that meat sellers offer free BBQ at the Varvakios market in downtown Athens. Many people go there to enjoy BBQ grilled by meat masters.
But this year, the dramatic economic crisis has forced many residents of Athens to have deleted meat and poultry from the weekly menu. Maybe this year Varvakios visitors are more than in previous years….
