Several people booed and hurled coffee and yogurt pots and bottles of water at singer Giorgos Dalaras during a concert at Ilion suburb of western Athens on Monday evening. However the singer showed cool-headed and kept singing. His only comment was that “some like his songs and some they don’t.”
Of course, there is the question whether the protest was against his songs or they had others, more painful motives.
Protesters were apparently angry at Dalaras due to his statements about ‘loss of national souverignty’ and the Aegean Sea, as they twitted in the morning programme of Popi Tsapanidou in private Skai TV.

Currently Dalaras gives several concerts free of charge in low-income neighbourhoods of Athens in ‘solidarity with the memorandum of understanding’ the loan agreement between Greece and its lenders. He is married to Anna Dalara, a former deputy minister at Papandreou’s government, and PASOK MP.
KTG, last August you told me “i’m afraid you miss the point of his so-called ‘political’ background, Antonis”. And you never explained what that point was. And now again I have to admit that I really don’t understand what this is all about. Could you explain?
(has anyone ever told you anything about your elephant memory?). He was promoting himself as a “fighter” against ‘political injustice’ blablablah , had concerts for the missing of Cyprus.
So, these free concerts are about support for the MoU? And he is booed for that?
aaaaaaaaaaaa!
Does that mean I am right and it was because he seems to be supporting the MoU?
the concerts aim to raise awareness to the conditions of the low income suburbs
Did they at least eat the yoghurt before they ate it? With all these hungry people (especially in Ilion) why waste good yoghurt by throwing it. Best to make tzadziki out of it and put it on a Giros, and then pass it out to hungry people.
Why the absurdity of these protestors.
