Greek Seamen Federation decided not to proceed to further strikes, and sea transport will resume on Wednesday, March 21st 2012, at 6 a.m, when the 48-hour strike ends. The decision was taken with a majority of nine votes during a stormy meeting with a lot of objections. However, the seamen decided to refrain from further strikes, especially under the pressure of farmers from Crete who couldn’t transport their products.
The seamen said in a statement, that they have received some written assurances on their demands by the Ministers of Labour and Development & Maritime and that they will re-examine the strike issue in the future.
