An angel must have been watching over this desperate man in Patras who committed suicide on Thursday morning. The 33-year-old had used a wire to hang himself from an olive tree. It was a rescue of literally ‘last second’ that passerby found him still alive. They took him down from the tree and rushed him to the hospital, where doctors made great efforts to keep him alive.
Local media report that the unemployed man was struggling with severe economic problems. He was unemployed for quite some time, could not find work except some day’s work now and then and could not cover the basic needs for his 5-year-old child and his jobless wife.
According to latest report, the man died in the hospital despite the efforts by the doctors.
PS the angel left without fulfilling his duty 🙁 Why?
This poor man seems not to have had the will to live… 🙁 and it seems that the Angel had more mercy for the man than for his family… Perhaps humanity will in time become merciful and I hope it will be soon…very soon 🙁
Whilst I understand the desperation some people must be feeling when they commit suicide, why do they leave their families to survive alone but with increased suffering and grief?
it’s a question difficult to be answered. But I think it’s unfair to criticize and judge people who are desperate and not in position (mentally and phsychologically) to control their situation. it’s human weakness and it’s not coincidence that survivers should seek consulting.
leave families in suffering and grief? how many people do this every day when they abandon their families and children for the shake of another partner?
They do not see it that way. What they see is relieving their families of the burden they consider themselves to be. That is what unchecked depression does to you. Your self estemm and self worth is reduced to absolutely nothing and you convice yourself you are nothing.
I am in fact convinced that most people who commit suicide and leave a family behind commit their desperate act out of respect and compassion for their family, to relieve the family of a burden it shouldn’t have to carry. It is not perse about them, in most cases it actually isn’t
and increditable high feeling of guilt.
