Greeks lost confidence in their political system – No wonder….

Greece’s political system has undermined itself in the last years as the economic crisis brought on the surface all chronic diseases of a ststem that had an expiration date.  Ideologies have been abolished in a society that used to be highly politicized. Whether socialist (PASOK) or left-wings (SYRIZA) parties, they have all adopted the neo-liberal systems of austerity in the form of bailouts that demolished among others also the welfare state.

The economic crisis had also economical and corruption scandals come to surface, enhancing convincingness among citizens that the Greek political system is rotten to the bone.

This has caused loss of confidence and citizens’ distance from a system that seems to have only one aim : to gain of power and control.

The citizens’ reaction to a collapsing system is been mirrored in the findings of a survey conducted by Palmos Analysis for Greek website tvxs.gr owned by Stelios Kouloglou, journalist and SYRIZA MEP.

The citizens -and consequently the voters – are deeply disappointing from the traditional big parties. whether conservative New Democracy nor left-wing SYRIZA that is known to govern the country together with a large part of former powerful PASOK.

When it comes to ‘governance” and ‘major problems’ of the country and the society, the majority of Greeks has no hope that either SYRIZA or New Democracy may find solutions.

When it comes to ‘who is most suitable for Prime Minister’ the majority of respondents answers “Nobody” (43%), while Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras gets 25% and ND’s Jyriakos Mitsotakis 30%.

The voters’ distance and the depreciation of the political system are also been reflected in the high percentage of “Undecided Voters” and of “Abstention Vote”.

To question “which government can better deal with crucial issues” the results are:

Foreign Policy:
None (spontaneous answer): 43%
Government SYRIZA: 16%
Government ND: 35%

Migration & Refugees
None (spontaneous answer): 44%

Government SYRIZA 16%
Government SW: 35%

Public Finance
None (spontaneous answer): 46%
Government SYRIZA: 18%

Frustration over the ruling party SYRIZA and the main opposition ND is reflected in 41.9% of respondents who say that they will vote for another, for a third party, or that they will not go to polling boxes at all. This 41.9% contains also those who do not know what party they will vote for and those who consider to cast an invalid/white vote.

ND 21%, SYRIZA

The survey was conducted 13-15 September 2016, nationwide, among 1004 people.

  1. Here is a very good piece on the dirty swamp of Syriza (as well)

And this Mr. Kalogritsas has taken money from Attica Bank just to pay for his TV license. Through illegal ways.

Interesting to hear, he got 77 Mio while Syriza is in power alone. And bought the company of the father of the oh-so-proper-and-left Alexis.

    Scumbags. All of them.

  2. This is what happens when Quislings are in government, serving their German masters, and when the people tolerate them.
