One woman lost her life in western Macedonia when the bad weather front hit with full power Greece with torrential rainfalls and gale-force on Saturday. Members of the fire brigades located the body of the 55-year-old woman who went missing on Saturday evening when torrential rain had flooded the area of Skotina, in the prefecture of Pieria.

The body was found 1.5 km away from her car on Sunday morning.

According to local pierianews.gr the pediatrician attempted to cross the flooded stream of Zliana and her car was swept away the rushing waters. She left behind three children.
State broadcaster ERT reported that despite the flooded stream authorities had not closed the road to traffic.
Unprecedented rainfall

High volumes of rain fell from Saturday morning and for 24 hours in western and central Greece flooding houses and shops, bringing down bridges and mobilizing authorities that had to evacuate people from their homes.
