Municipality workers will launch several 48-hour strikes to protest the measure of labour reserve that will send several hundreds home with 60% of their wages for one year and the option to be dismissed after that period. The first strike will occur Thursday and Friday, December 13-14,t he second Monday and Tuesday, December 17-18. On Wednesday, December 19th, municipality workers unions will join the 24-hour strike of public sector union ADEDY.
Also during the weekend (Dec15-16) municipality workers will abstain from work and no garbage collection will take place.
During a protest on Wednesday, municipality workers took down the security barricades and attempted to enter the Greek Parliament. Strong police forces prohibited them from doing so.
