Greek Revenues Secretary: In-debted companies should close down

Another revolutionary proposal by a Greek official and thus the man in charge of Public Revenues. Haris Theocharis. He proposed that “companies with debts to the state pension funds or to employees would better close down than to remain open and produce further deficit.”

Τheocharis made this statement last Friday to private radio Skai. He did not explain though, why not all the indebted public services and state organizations should close down and stop producing further deficits. Neither did he waste a word about the high social contributions the state demands from employees and employers or the continuously increasing taxes.

I am afraid, nobody asked him such questions.

Ironically describing Haris Theocharis as ‘fearless technocrat full of wisdom’ economic newspaper Capital.gr has a very nice comment on this proposal, suggesting among others that all incapable officials of the Greek administration should be fired with order of PM Antonis Samaras.

PS I’d rather refrain from fully commenting on this statement…
