A police special guard, 28, killed himself in the northern Athenian suburb of Halandri on Sunday after causing a fatal accident killing a senior woman, 75. According to Greek media, the fatal accident occurred in a two-lane road with lots of traffic and no crosswalk for pedestrians at that point.
According to eyewitnesses, the special guard did not see the woman crossing the street, that after the accident the motorcycle fell and it crawled some 50 meters. when the special guard reached to the woman and saw that both her legs were amputated, he walked a couple of meters, pulled out his service revolver and shot himself.
“According to reports, the 28-year-old officer hit an elderly woman while he was off duty and riding his motorcycle in Halandri at around 6.30 p.m. Investigators believe that he shot himself with his service revolver just a few minutes after discovering that the woman had died of her injuries.
